A WORKER FROM THE FOSTERING AND ADOPTION TEAM WILL CONTACT YOU TO DISCUSS FOSTERING FURTHER AND COMPLETE AN ENQUIRY FORM
AN INITIAL HOME INTERVIEW (SCREENING VISIT) WILL BE ARRANGED WITH A SOCIAL WORKER FROM THE FOSTERING AND ADOPTION TEAM
‘SKILLS TO FOSTER’ PREPARATION GROUP
HOME STUDY ASSESSMENT– THE HOME STUDY ASSESSMENT MAY START PRIOR TO YOU ATTENDING THE PREPARATION GROUPS DEPENDING ON THE TIMING OF THE GROUPS
ADOPTION AND FOSTERING PANEL – THE ADOPTION AND FOSTERING PANEL MEMBERS WILL CONSIDER THE ASSESSMENT AND RECOMMEND WHETHER OR NOT YOU SHOULD BE REGISTERED AS A FOSTER CARER FOR FALKIRK COUNCIL
AGENCY DECISION MAKER (ADM) MAKES DECISION TO REGISTER YOU AS A FALKIRK COUNCIL FOSTER CARER– THE AGENCY DECISION MAKER IS A SENIOR MEMBER OF STAFF WITHIN CHILDREN’S SERVICES WHO HAS ULTIMATE DECISIONS MAKING AUTHORITY. IF AN APPLICANT IS NOT APPROVED, THEY ARE ENTITLED TO ASK FOR THE DECISION TO BE RECONSIDERED.
There will also be a specific training and information session related to disability. We will also ask about your family background, motivation, attitudes to disability, interests, hobbies and most importantly, help you decide what you have to offer and what range of disabilities you could cope with.
Ongoing support is offered on an individual basis and through regular training. Short Break Carers receive an allowance to cover expenses and a pro rata fostering fee.
